‘I don’t make films for actors like you’: What Yash Chopra once told Manoj Bajpayee

Throughout his professional life, Manoj Bajpayee had the opportunity to collaborate with Yash Chopra on the epic cross-border romance Veer-Zaara (2004). The actor admitted that he played Zara’s fiancé in a minor role in the movie because he wanted to work with the renowned filmmaker. He grew up seeing his movies as well. Shah Rukh Khan portrayed Indian Air Force pilot Veer in the love story, and Preity Zinta played the Pakistani woman he falls in love with, Zara.
Manoj Bajpayee starred in Yash Chopra’s film as Zara’s fiancé, Raza Sharazi.

The actor revealed that his role as Raza Sharazi was a cameo and that he only spent four to five days on set. Like he did with the rest of the cast, according to Manoj, Yash welcomed him to the sets. He even claimed that he was greeted with a royal welcome on the sets. When the legendary filmmaker and politician LK Advani viewed the 2003 movie Pinjar together in Delhi, they were both impressed by Manoj’s performance. He then made the job offer to her.

Manoj recalled how the movie provided him the chance to collaborate with his old friend Shah Rukh in an interview with Humans of Bombay. He remarked, “Shah Rukh, I have known for many years from my days in Delhi, so this was also an opportunity to catch up. We belong to two different categories of films and filmmaking since we don’t cross paths. As a result, I got to meet him and enjoy my time on Mr. Yash Chopra’s sets, who has long been a bright and prosperous mainstream director.”

He went on to say, “We were raised on his movies! I used to talk with Yash ji for a very long time. I received a very direct message from him saying, “I don’t make movies for actors like you, so I No. It would be great if you agreed to do it, but I suppose I’ll have something else in the future. He was such a modest man.”

Last seen with Sharmila Tagore, Simran, and Suraj Sharma in the Disney+ Hotstar movie Gulmohar. He also has movies for the year planned including Dispatch and Zoram.
