Vyjayanthimala Bali’s Family And Close Friends Denies Actor’s Death Rumours

Reputable actor and dancer Vyjayanthimala Bali’s family and close friends have confirmed that she is in “good health” and refuted recent social media rumors about her condition.

In his Instagram account, Chennai-based Carnatic musician Girijashankar Sundaresan said, “Dr. Vyjayanthimala Bali is in good health, and any news that says otherwise is false. Please validate the news source before sharing. Please stop spreading baseless rumours. We are better than this.”

On January 18, Sundaresan had previously shared a video of Vyjayanthimala singing the Carnatic song Daasiganunta in the raga Abheri. The show was held in Chennai at Kala Pradarshini.

After making her acting debut in the Tamil film Vaazhkai in 1949, Vyjayanthimala went on to appear in a number of Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil productions.

Her performance as Chandramukhi in Bimal Roy’s Devdas (1955) brought her widespread recognition and won her the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. She declined the honor, nevertheless, claiming that she did not consider herself a “supporting actress.”

She was able to collaborate with some of Bollywood’s biggest performers because to her participation in Devdas.

After marrying actor Raj Kapoor’s family physician, Dr. Chamanlal Bali, Vyjayanthimala resigned from acting at the height of her career.

She left the Indian National Congress in 1999 to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), having joined the party in 1984.

In 1968, Vyjayanthimala was awarded the Padma Shri, and in 2024, he was given the coveted Padma Vibhushan honor.
