Vivek Agnihotri, a filmmaker, has urged Trinamool Congress lawmaker Babul Supriyo to pick up his guitar once more. The director criticised the former singer for failing to provide security in his area in a new tweet on Friday.
After Babul Supriyo’s post about making sure he is safe, Vivek Agnihotri has responded.
Due to concerns for his safety, Vivek had planned a book signing event in Kolkata but had to switch the location from Quest Mall to Starmark Bookstore, South City Mall. Babul, whose district includes Quest Mall, tweeted that he will see to Vivek’s protection. “I am not powerless… I was labelled a “rioter” without cause while I was a member of the sectarian party @BJP4India. Kindly arrive in Kolkata a day in advance. I’m putting it out there for you to have your finest book release ever. I shall look after everything myself. Game?” Babul penned a tweet.
The most recent tweet from Vivek targets Babul. “Babul, although knowing it very well in advance, you were unable to guarantee my safety in your district yesterday. Because the mall is located in a Muslim neighbourhood, they hijacked the upscale mall, and your government did nothing to stop them. Apart for those who seized the mall, everyone in Bengal is aware of who is communal. Leave it right here, acknowledge the truth, and return to the amazing world of music or football.
On Thursday, Vivek tweeted, “Kolkata: Alert. It has been reported that the location of the Urban Naxals book signing has changed from Quest Mall to Starmark Book Store in South City Mall for security reasons. I’ve been warned that Quest Mall is unsafe because it’s in a Muslim neighbourhood. The Tragic State of Bengal Today.
The director had tweeted, “Friends, it is a very sad and dangerous scenario that India has an Indian author not allowed in Indian mall as that region is ruled by Muslim Indians,” accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of permitting “Muslims” to illegally hijack a mall. They now have official clearance from @MamataOfficial to illegally occupy a mall. The title of the book, Urban Naxal, is ironic.
The Kashmir Files will be produced in 2021 by Vivek. He is currently developing his upcoming movie, The Vaccine War.
