New Season Delivers Demolition Derby Action

The long-awaited second season of the “Twisted Metal” series has officially premiered, with the first three episodes dropping on Peacock on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Following the world-building of the first season, Season 2 dives headfirst into the central concept of the video game franchise: a high-stakes demolition derby tournament. The new season finds protagonist John Doe, played by Anthony Mackie, and his accomplice Quiet, played by Stephanie Beatriz, entering the deadly tournament hosted by the mysterious Calypso. With a grand prize of one wish granted to the sole survivor, the competition draws a host of new and returning enemies. Rotten Tomatoes reviews for the new season are notably strong, with an approval rating of 90%, which is a significant jump from the first season’s 67% score, signaling a triumph for the show’s creators. The season has been expanded to 12 episodes, two more than the first, and will be released in a sporadic schedule over five weeks, with the finale scheduled for August 28, 2025.

Expanded Cast and Deeper Character Stakes

“Twisted Metal” Season 2 introduces several fan-favorite characters from the video game series, expanding the show’s universe with a mix of familiar and reimagined faces. Emmy nominee Anthony Carrigan takes on the role of Calypso, the tournament’s enigmatic host, while new contenders include Mr. Grimm, played by Richard de Klerk, and Axel, played by Michael James Shaw. The season also features a major twist on the character of Raven, with Patty Guggenheim replacing Neve Campbell in a more game-accurate role. The series delves deeper into John Doe’s backstory, as he reunites with his long-lost sister, Dollface, played by Tiana Okoye, who is now the leader of a masked marauder gang. This reunion adds new emotional stakes to the high-octane action. The second season promises more explosive action, dark humor, and character development as John, Quiet, and other participants fight to survive the deadly competition and win the one prize that could change their lives forever.
