In an open letter to the NEA, hundreds of artists expressed their “tremendous displeasure” with the limitations placed on grants for colleges with DEI programs.

In a letter to the National Endowment for the Arts on Tuesday, over 400 artists demanded that the institution cease implementing President Trump’s directives and lift limitations on funding projects that support gender ideology or diversity.

The NEA says federal grant applicants, including nonprofit organizations, colleges and universities, individual artists, and more, must now adhere to regulations under Trump’s executive orders in order to receive grant funding. The letter was part of a campaign spearheaded by theater director and writer Annie Dorsen.
