When Tori Spelling made the decision to end her marriage, she received some assistance.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum revealed that she was inspired to end her relationship with ex-Dean McDermott, whom she split from in 2023, after her 13-year-old daughter Hattie asked her a crucial question.
Tori recalled the adolescent asking her, “Have you ever considered what it would be like to be with someone else and not dad and get treated right?” in the April 10 episode of her MisSPELLING podcast.
The former reality TV personality, who also has three children with Dean: Liam, 18, Stella, 16, Finn, 12, and Beau, 8, stated that the question had nothing to do with her daughter picking a side in their divorce. As Tori had stated, Hattie “loves her dad.”
“It became so bad for the children to see us together,” she remarked. “We were unable to conceal the fights that were taking place.”

After some time, Tori came to the conclusion that ending her relationship with Dean—who revealed that he had entered a treatment center months after their split—was a better model for her kids than continuing to be together.
“The desire of children, who always wanted their parents together, I think prevented me from making what was ostensibly a better decision for them than what they saw between two partners,” she stated.
Since then, Dean, 58, has commemorated a year of sobriety.
“Last week was an incredible week of love, hugs, and recovery,” Dean said on Instagram on July 1st, along with a picture of his blue sobriety chips and a poster listing all of his days clean. I would want to express my gratitude to my sponsor, my Sponsee Brothers, and the entire fellowship for celebrating my first birthday.
The actor went on to thank his rehabilitation facility Harmony Place for “saving my life,” saying, “If you are having trouble with addiction, just give up and get assistance. Until you love yourself, we are here to wait for you and to love you.”
