Last week, Tim Cook’s tour made national news. The Apple CEO is impressed with the short sci-fi film The Astronaut and His Parrot, starring Ali Fazal, while numerous dignitaries are meeting with him. The film was directed by Aarti Kadav. Aarti Kadav, who was invited to deliver a special discussion on the movie, showed it to the headmaster. On his social media, he wrote, “The Astronaut and His Parrot is a story of connection and hope. I got to know Aarti Kadav, who made this exquisite short film that won an award using only her iPhone and MacBook Pro.
It was fantastic to finally show Tim Cook the movie, Ali Fazal replied. It is encouraging to hear such praise from Apple CEO given that the entire movie was shot using Apple gear.
“Although though The Astronaut and His Parrot is a sci-fi movie and the majority of the shots were taken against green backgrounds, it was really only Aarti’s vision that gave the movie its current form. I hope to see more films that accurately portray India in the future.”
In the story The Astronaut and His Parrot, a space traveler accidentally wanders into an area with little oxygen owing to an accident. He desperately tries to communicate with his daughter during his final moments in space, but all he gets is a garish parrot from a fortune teller’s stand.
