A New Spin on the Gangster Saga
Retro’s filming began in 2024 and was completed by October. Although an earlier teaser suggested that Suriya’s character would attempt to break away from a life of crime for the sake of love, the full plot is yet unknown. The movie looks ready to offer a distinct and poignant interpretation on the gangster genre.
Pooja Hegde plays the lead female character in Retro, which is supported by 2D Entertainment, which is co-owned by Suriya and Jyotika and Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films. Jayaram, Nasser, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Karunakaran, Tamizh, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sandeep Raj, Murugavel, and Remya Suresh are among the ensemble cast’s rising stars and veterans.
Pooja Hegde Embraces Tamil – Dubs for Herself
Fans received an update from the creators in March in the form of the oddball comic strip EPI005: Vaazhga Tamizh! I accept the challenge! Pooja Hegde shares her own dubs on X, formerly Twitter. As Hegde dubbed her own dialogues in Tamil for the first time, the post praised her commitment to the part.
The post said: “There were plenty of fun moments on set, with the team confusing her with tougher Tamil words. When director Karthik Subbaraj was searching for a heroine, a number of names were suggested, but Pooja Hegde caught everyone’s attention. After seeing her, Pandiyaa himself confirmed, ‘This is the girl we have been looking for!'” Following an impressive look test, she started her daily Tamil training and stunned everyone by delivering even lengthy monologue sequences flawlessly.
Technical Brilliance Behind the Scenes
The film’s skilled technical staff adds to its allure. Renowned for creating edgy and captivating soundscapes, Santhosh Narayanan rejoins Subbaraj to work on the soundtrack. Cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna is in charge of the images, and editor Shafique Mohamed is in charge of the editing. Jackson oversees the art direction, while Kecha Khamphakdee choreographs the action scenes and Praveen Raja creates the costumes.
Retro is positioned to be one of the most talked-about films of 2025 thanks to its stellar ensemble, compelling idea, and skilled technicians.
