Amazon is going back to Middle-earth’s Third Age.
The third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been renewed by the streamer.
Since the fantasy franchise is one of the company’s biggest blockbusters, the move was unavoidable.
The series, which is presently in pre-production at its new home at Shepperton Studios in the UK, will be joined by directors Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Stefan Schwartz.
In the spring, filming will start.
Brändström returned as executive producer and director for the third season after serving as co-executive producer and director for many episodes in seasons one and two. Stefan Schwartz, who is making his first appearance on the series, and returning director Hamri, who directed a number of the season two episodes, join her. In the next season, each director will be in charge of many episodes.
J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are executive producers and showrunners of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Kate Hazell, executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström, executive producers Lindsey Weber and Justin Doble join them. Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee co-produce alongside producer Matthew Penry-Davey.
