Almost the entire film industry has denounced the Manipur vandalism incident involving two women. Two tribal women were seen in a video being paraded naked and molested by a group of men. Director of The Kashmir Files Vivek Agnihotri wrote a poem in which he expressed “sorry” for having let him down, while actor Soni Razdan urged the government to first “focus on Manipur.”

The Manipur video “has shaken everyone’s soul,” wrote Sonu Sood on Twitter. Instead of women, humanity was paraded (broken heart emoji).

Poem Written by Vivek Agnihotri

Vivek Agnihotri’s heartbreaking poem about the Manipur incident. “Manipur: Moplas, Direct Action Day, Noakhali, Bangladesh, Punjab, Kashmir, Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Bastar, and now Manipur,” he wrote in a tweet. Every time our defenseless mothers and sisters are subjected to cruel, inhumane deeds. Every time, I cry because I’m an Indian, a man, and a human. I feel bad. I feel awful for being so helpless.

His poem read: “O Manipur, I tried… I tried… but I failed.

Now all I can do is tell their sad stories through my work. But by then it is too late.

We are all victims of selective and hyper-competitive electoral politics.

We are victims of hyper-religion.

We are victims of dangerous media.

We Indians are suffering.

There is no #RightToLife in Azad India. And we can’t do anything about it.

This is not the freedom I want.

This is not the kind of democracy I want.

If it forces us to shed each other’s blood then it is of no importance.

We are a failed society.

I’m sorry, my sisters.

I’m sorry, my moms.

I’m sorry, Mother India.”

Twitter learns about the videos when they become popular months later. If leaders only reacted, it would be on Twitter rather than to terrible events. They are more concerned with online outrage than actual people, he tweeted.
