Manoj Kumar has been a legendary actor in Hindi cinema. He has worked in countless movies, including Woh Kaun Thi, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Be-Imaan and more. The actor sadly passed away at the age of 87 due to health-related issues. As per news agency ANI, Kumar suffered a cardiogenic shock following an acute myocardial infarction. He was already struggling with decompensated liver cirrhosis. His son was quoted as saying, “It’s the grace of the god that he bid adieu to this world peacefully. His cremation will take place tomorrow.”
On the sad occasion, we caught up with Sharmila Tagore, his co-star, who worked with him in the 1976 movie Sawan Ki Ghata. She said, “I worked in Sawan Ki Ghata with Manoj (Kumar) ji. We shot the film in Ooty. I have some wonderful memories. He made great films as a director. His contribution to Hindi films is immense.”
About Sawan Ki Ghata
The movie, Sawan Ki Ghata, begins with a car accident. The driver passes away soon. However, in that car, there was a child and a suitcase full of rupees and jewellery. Two poor local labourers Bansilal and Shamsher watch the whole incident. While Shamsher loots the suitcase and tries to kill the child, Bansilal saves the child. After growing up, the child, Gopal, has a friendly relationship Shamsher’s daughter, Seema. Learning about this, Shamsher warns Bansilal. The former sends Gopal to another city. After becoming an adult, Gopal wants to visit his father and goes to the village.

He won Filmfare awards for Upkar, Be-Imaan, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and more. He was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999.
