Shabana Azmi has never held back while discussing her personal life and decisions. She has a good relationship with her spouse, Javed Akhtar, a well-known writer and lyricist, as well as her first wife, Honey Irani, and their kids, Farhan and Zoya Akhtar. The veteran performer considered her relationship with Irani in an interview with Filmfare’s In the Ring.
“I was this feminist model. And I had done something that was inexplicable because it was like, with everything that I said, I was trampling on another woman’s rights for my own happiness.” Shabana Azmi opened up about the reactions to her marriage to Javed Akhtar, saying, “I think people who followed me as a feminist had every right to feel that. But then, what I figured was that when I started explaining the circumstances in which it had been done, it would lead to much more hurt for the people and the families involved. It was better to keep quiet, and I think that was a very sagacious decision because after all the mud that was flung at me.”
You are in a big hurry to explain that ki ye jo aap galti samajh rahi hai is ke basis dekhiye, but all three of us refrained from that and it was very wise,” she continued. “Today, I have such a healthy relationship with Honey that people just will not believe it. That was possible because no mud was flung there.”
