While promoting her new movie Gaslight, Sara Ali Khan admitted that she and her younger brother Ibrahim Ali Khan sought to use the victim card against their parents by pretending they were estranged children. She revealed that when she and Ibrahim were younger, they had gotten gifts from their parents, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, knowing that they could feel bad about the divorce. She also quipped that, although being older now, she still does it occasionally.
With their father Saif Ali Khan are Ibrahim Ali Khan and Sara Ali Khan.
After 13 years of marriage, Saif and Amrita separated in 2004. They got married in January 1991. Ibrahim was born on 5 March 2001, while Sara was born on 12 August 1995. Two children, Taimur Ali Khan, 6, and Jehangir Ali Khan, 2, were born to Saif and actress Kareena Kapoor in 2012.
Sara was questioned regarding whether she and her brother ever physically or verbally mistreated their parents during an interview with Bollywood Bubble for her next Disney+ Hotstar flick. The budding actor acknowledged having done so. We occasionally played the victim card, she said. In my family’s dynamic, to be honest. Like, “Daddy’s not here, Mother, give it to us,” when a child is 11 years old, or “Daddy, you aren’t with us, give it to us,” when a child is 15 years old.
Sara added in jest that she still does on occasion. “Change 11 and 15 with 26,” she chuckled. She and her brother were reared by her mother following the divorce. “Even at nine years old, I suppose I had the maturity to recognize that these two individuals living together were not happy in our house,” she said in an interview from 2021. They were suddenly overjoyed to be living in two new houses. For instance, my mother was suddenly joyful, lovely, and cheery, as she deserved to be. I don’t think she had laughed in ten years. Why should I be unhappy if my parents are happy?
Sara plays a young woman who goes home to discover her father missing in Pawan Kripalani’s film Gaslight. Despite being suspected of wrongdoing, nobody believes him. Vikrant Massey and Chitrangada Singh also appear in the suspenseful film.
