Saim Haider, a Lucknowian living in New York, is working on a trilogy of anthologies, the first of which he filmed in the US, the second in his hometown, and the third of which he intends to shoot once again overseas. Suliman Haider
The actor-producer explains, “I finished Naferno Paradiso before the pandemic in the US, and it also gained attention at a number of film festivals. In June 2022, I film Karonda Keema. In Lucknow, I played the major part alongside performers from my homeland of Delhi. The score was composed by National Award-winning music director Bishakh Jyoti. I’ll be returning soon to shoot my third movie.
“Three films with varied flavours would complete my anthology,” he says, “and he is keen on producing content that is worldwide with an Indian touch. Working simultaneously in two different nations was an experiment I undertook. In contrast to India, where you have to do everything yourself from auditions to post-production, it is really rewarding. In the US, we have the agent system where you have to hire people and things go easily.
He appears in an eight-episode television series called Papa’s Scooter in 2021 as the second lead. “After graduating from college in Lucknow, I moved to New York to pursue my master’s degree and discovered that acting was my true destiny. Since then, I’ve performed in numerous Broadway productions, such as Larry Bought a Lemon, One Nation Under God, Cherry Orchard, and Bonafide Woman.
