Salman Khan talked candidly on the continuous box office difficulties facing Hindi films during a recent media appearance for his next movie, Sikandar. The superstar claims that the way budgets are being managed is one of the main causes. Salman stated, “I think we are going completely wrong with the budgets.” “Everything will be alright once we have control over our budgets. Are we creating love tales the same way we used to? Those are now being made by newcomers. Do we produce action movies in the same manner as the South? The correct directors, producers, and scripts are crucial.

“We Need Emotion, Action, and Romance in Our Films”

Salman also emphasized how modern movies lack a well-rounded narrative. He described how previous Bollywood productions maintained viewer interest by finding a mix between comedy, romance, action, and drama. “Like the classic movies, we need the whole package—the romance, the action, and the emotion. To lighten the mood, there used to be a comic. These days, the audience picks up their phone whenever there is a lengthy shot or an informational discussion. The attention span has significantly decreased.

“Filmmakers Are Competing With Each Other, Not Thinking About the Audience”

The Sikandar actor also emphasized how contemporary filmmakers are more concerned with competitiveness than with building relationships with their audiences. “Directors compete with one another, producers want to demonstrate who can make a bigger film, and writers write for themselves.” However, nobody is considering the audience. You ought to produce movies that you would want to watch from the front row. You can not start spoon-feeding when you say, “The audience will not understand this.” Today’s audience, however, is far ahead. They have access to the greatest movies in the world because to OTT.
Salim Khan’s Advice: “Films Were Made for the Wrong Reasons”

Salman also talked about an exchange he had with his father, Salim Khan, a seasoned writer. “Back in the day, movies were being made for all the wrong reasons,” he observed, “whether it was because a distributor had money to invest, a heroine was getting married, or an actor’s dates were available.” But only when you have the best story should you make a movie.” He went on to say that many filmmakers today are mindlessly following trends. “Action and comedy are becoming more popular since they are effective at the moment. However, we must acknowledge that audiences are receptive to a wide variety of narratives.
“Reduce Popcorn and Ticket Prices to Bring Back the Audience”

Salman concluded by pointing out that another reason why people are avoiding cinemas is the high cost of tickets and meals. He went on to say, “I also think the price of popcorn and cold drinks should be reduced.” Salman Khan’s next movie is Sikandar, which was directed by AR Murugadoss, and it will appeal to fans from all walks of life. The action entertainer is slated for release on March 30, 2025, during Eid, and stars Rashmika Mandanna and Kajal Aggarwal in important roles.
