February 18: According to fresh Nielsen data released on Tuesday, Super Bowl LIX drew a record 182.8 million unique viewers for at least one minute.
Nielsen previously reported that a record 127.7 million people watched the Philadelphia Eagles’ 40–22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9 in New Orleans on Fox, Fox Deportes, Telemundo, and streaming services.
Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel “Reach” technique is responsible for the higher figures that were revealed on Tuesday. “More precisely measures out-of-home viewing,” Nielsen said of the new measure.
With 182.8 million viewers, it surpassed the previous record of 182.2 million established for Super Bowl LVIII a year earlier.
Nielsen has historically measured its total audience. According to the corporation, it replaced that metric with the new Big Data + Panel numbers in January.
