When Rani Mukerji first entered the entertainment business, becoming a Bollywood actor was not an option for someone with dark skin. Rani battled against all odds to become one of the industry’s most accomplished actors, and she also campaigned for a raspy voice in Bollywood. The actress in a recent interview said how she was hurt after her voice was cast as a leading lady alongside Aamir Khan in ‘Ghulam’ but Karan Johar went ahead and signed her with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. There weren’t many options available to actresses when Rani first entered Bollywood. Even though times were continually changing, B-town beauties still had challenges in the movies, and as soon as they switched from being single to being married, their careers were all but ended. Actresses are now getting married and succeeding in all spheres, therefore that is no longer the case.

Rani Mukerji recently spoke candidly about having her voice dubbed for the Aamir Khan film “Ghulam,” saying, “As a novice, you don’t have much choice. Let’s make decisions that will benefit us. The answer is yes, however only in “Ghulam” was my voice dubbed. My voice during “Ghulam” raised the question of whether the starring actress opposite Aamir would enjoy it. My voice has been dubbed, they told me, for the benefit of the movie. I was hurt, but I didn’t let it affect me too much. My essence, though, still seems to be outside of “Ghulam,” I think.

Rani Mukerji lauded Karan Johar after that and remarked, “My time in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” arrived quickly. I was asked by Karan Johar if I had any issues having my voice dubbed. I said no”. Asked me whether I would do my own voice acting in my debut movie, “Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat,” and when I replied that I would, he told me he liked my voice and wanted me to do the dubbing.

In addition to changing the career paths of numerous Bollywood actors, Karan is an excellent filmmaker to work with and has given many people in Bollywood opportunity.
