Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), staged a Padwa Melawa rally in Mumbai on the occasion of Gudi Padwa. Speaking to the gathering, he commended writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar for his remarks about the 26/11 terrorist atrocities in Mumbai made at a Pakistani event.
Raj Thackeray says that he needs people like Javed Akhtar.
On Wednesday, the event was held in Dadar’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. Raj Thackeray said the following in his speech: “I want individuals like Javed Akhtar and several others. I want Indian Muslims to criticise Pakistan and demonstrate our power to them. I want Muslims who behave in this way, like Javed Akhtar.”
Raj Thackeray was not the only person to appreciate Javed Akhtar for stating his mind first; Kangana Ranaut was also among them. Javed heard that Indians believed that all Pakistanis were terrorists while he was at an event in Lahore commemorating author Faiz Ahmad Faiz. In a resounding response, he said that the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack conspirators were free to travel throughout Pakistan.
He stated: “The assailants did not originate in Egypt or Norway. You shouldn’t take offence if an Indian complains about them because they are still a problem in your nation.” He added that while Pakistan has never hosted singer Lata Mangeshkar, India has in the past hosted numerous Pakistani artists.
Later, when discussing it, Javed thought back on how people had responded to his remarks. He stated during an ABP event, “It grew significantly, feels shameful, and makes me feel like I shouldn’t go (for such events). Third World War is not going to happen, oh aaya! “. (As though I’ve won the third) global war). There are several responses from the public and the media. What did you say when I was embarrassed? Chup rahe kya, Itni baat toh kehni padgeegi?
At an event in Lahore where he was questioned about if he was frightened to criticise the government in front of a crowded room of Pakistanis, Javed responded, “These types of topics, which are debatable… Why was I afraid to travel abroad for two days when I was born, raised, and will die here? What will frighten me there when I am not frightened here? the nation through which I spent two days travelling? I feel safe here. Guess what made me afraid there)?”
