Priyanka Chopra recently visited Mumbai as part of the promotion for her new Prime Video series Citadel. In an interview, the actor discussed her technique and how she develops her characters. She also recalled some advice Shahid Kapoor’s father Pankaj Kapur gave her.
Priyank Chopra claimed to have studied acting with Pankaj Kapur.
Priyanka and Richard Madden, who both starred in Citadel, attended the show’s premiere in Mumbai earlier this month. Two elite spies named Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Singh are the subjects of the movie Garh (Priyanka Chopra). David Weil, Amazon Studios, and the AGBO label owned by the Russo Brothers are all supporting it.
Now, Priyanka discussed her craft as an actor and how she is someone who is highly detail-oriented in a recent interview with YouTuber Prajakta Koli. Priyanka spoke candidly about an encounter she had while studying acting with actor Pankaj Kapur during the interview. I was aiming for 7 Khoon Maaf, she added. And at the time, Vishal (Bhardwaj) and I had completed the film Kaminey, so I said, “If I do this film for you (Kaminey), you have to give me the lead role.” And bastard said, “With only 8 scenes I did in the movie, it became what it became.” Seven bloods were pardoned as a result of Vishal Sir’s statement that we must do it without a doubt. I worked on a lot of fluffy movies at the time. I made six unsuccessful movies. I was still discovering out who I was and what my strengths as an actor were.
She went on to say, “I was very serious about myself. I explained to Vishal Sir that I wanted to learn acting from a talented actor as I had never attended an acting school. I visited Pankaj Kapoor, Sir, as a result. At the time, he lived next door to me. He asked what work I had to do when I indicated I wanted to conduct a workshop with him. I asked, “Please teach me how you do,” and he replied, “You don’t need any.” What caused me to see you in between your script’s scenes? show me how you behave as I don’t know you… I don’t need anyone, he continued. You merely need to check the script between scenes to make sure you finish each scene. Another scene: From scene 34 to scene 58 or whatever, what was the course of your character’s development? My mind’s window was opened by it.”
In Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf, which was based on Ruskin Bond’s Susanna’s Seven Husbands, Priyanka played Susanna. Naseeruddin Shah, John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Irrfan, and Annu Kapoor also acted in the black comedy 7 Khoon Maaf, which earned Priyanka the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics).
Meanwhile, the first season of Priyanka’s upcoming espionage series Garh consists of six episodes, with the first two episodes scheduled to premiere on April 28 on Prime Video. Citadel is executive produced by the Russo Brothers and showrunner David Weil, and also stars Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci and Leslie Manville.
