The well-known director Pradeep Sarkar passed away in this city in the early hours of Friday after a protracted illness. At the time of his death, he was working on his “dream project.”

The movie, titled “Priya Interrupted,” was a biopic of Priya Rajvansh, a Hindi film actress who spent more than 20 years dating “Neecha Nagar” producer Chetan Anand and who received the Grand Prize (formerly known as the Golden Palm) at the 1946 Cannes Film Festival. Then, in 1949, he and Dev Anand, his younger brother, created Navketan Films.

The murder of Rajvansh on March 27, 2000, shocked Mumbai.

Ketan and Vivek Anand, Chetan Anand’s sons, were found guilty of the crime and given life sentences. After completing a two-year term, he was granted bail and released.

A disagreement over Chetan Anand’s seaside Juhu neighborhood Ruia Park villa, where Rajvansh resided both during and after their relationship, led to the murder. Chetan Anand passed away in 1997. All of Chetan’s movies had Rajvansh as an actor. Haqeeqat is the opening title in Anand’s movies.

Deepak Mukul, the movie’s producer, stated that Sarkar was supposed to begin filming for “Priya Interrupted” this year. He claimed that “Priya Interrupted” was Sarkar’s ideal undertaking and that “he had already worked out the plot, set design, and costumes for it.”
