Patralekhaa and Pratik Gandhi are preparing for the release of their film Phule. However, other factions in the nation are opposing the decision. The CBFC requested further revisions from the producers, which further delayed the release date. When Pratik was interviewed by Filmfare, they had the chance to ask him about his role as the vibrant Jyotirao Phule in the film.

In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Gandhi responded, “More than fear… the real responsibility is that you, especially when playing these kind of characters, like Jyotirao Phule or Mahatma Gandhi, is you do not change the fact unnecessarily.” Gandhi was asked if he felt afraid when portraying historical figures flawlessly.

“I want to keep myself away from this. This is a basic responsibility of an actor and a discipline of an actor.” Pratik went on to say, “Do not tweak the history, either because with your incompetence to understand or interpret or to appease somebody. You can not and you should not be doing that. That is the biggest disservice you do to the whole generation or your audience.”

We also wanted to know if the stars found the filming difficult. That fact is hitting you hard. That fact was converted in the performance, lines, and overall feel. When we were performing, we were not supposed to make it heavy. It was a way of life for them, which they were fighting against. Pratik stated, “When I read it as a reader, when I see it as a viewer, it is very heavy. Understand that we are showing a time when this was a common thing. So it can not be heavy on them.”
