According to a number of stories, Pakistan, the tournament’s hosts, suffered a significant defeat when the Champions Trophy concluded. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, put up a bright front on Thursday, claiming that it is expected to make almost USD 10 million in profit from hosting the Champions Trophy, in which the Indian team won.Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza and PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir even accused Indian media of causing this bad press.Aamir Mir continued by warning BCCI that it would eventually lose money.
In a press conference, PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir stated, “The ICC makes all of the decisions. If India has attempted to hurt Pakistan, then I can tell you also pay the price. You know India vs. Pakistan sells like hotcakes. You know for the next three years Pakistan will not travel to India. Therefore, if Pakistan incurs any financial loss, India will suffer more financial loss with Pakistan not traveling to India.”
India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan caused a great deal cricket confusion on the venue for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The International Cricket Council (ICC) eventually announced the locations for the premier event after several months of waiting. According to a statement by the ICC, the “ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 will be played across Pakistan and a neutral venue.” It indicated that India’s games were held in Dubai. In yet another significant ruling, the Jay Shah-led international organization said that, through 2027, all cricket matches between India and Pakistan that are hosted by the two nations will take place in neutral locations.
Despite being the host or co-host, the Indian cricket team will have to travel outside of its own nation for the first time to face Pakistan in an ICC event due to the ICC’s “compromise.” That might be detrimental to a nation that prides itself on being a cricket powerhouse.
For over ten years, India and Pakistan have only faced one another in Asian Cricket Council (ACC) or ICC competitions. India did not visit Pakistan during this time, and its matches were held at a neutral location whenever the country hosted an ICC or ACC event.
The last bilateral series that India visited Pakistan was in 2005–06. In 2012–13, Pakistan made its most recent bilateral series visit of India.
