After nine long years, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, who became extremely known in India for her role in Sanam Teri Kasam, has reconnected with an Indian performer. Art still transcends national boundaries in spite of political unrest. Artist collaborations between the two nations have subtly started to grow once more. Speaking of Mawra, she collaborated with Akhil Sachdeva on the Tu Chaand Hai song video. In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Akhil discusses his work with Mawra, the song’s creation, and how creativity transcends all barriers. Excerpts:

Tu Chaand Hai will always hold a special place in my heart. It is hilarious that I declined the song when it was offered to me by Novice Records Official, a record label situated in Dubai. Perhaps because I was constantly traveling and performing. I suggested that we sing another song because I might have been too tired or had not listened to it carefully. However, the label requested that I merely dub it once because they were eager to hear my vocals. I heard it again at that point and realized I could not refuse it. I adore the melody’s compliment to the text. A really raw voice that could convey the sentiments was all that was needed.

Music has the power to transcend borders. What was it like working with a Pakistani actress for this video?

Of course. Music, in my opinion, knows no bounds and no language at all. Without taking into account its origins, genre, or language, it has the power to put you into a trance, bring you to tears, and make you joyful all the time. Mawra and I had already met a few years prior. Her brother-in-law, Farhan Saeed, is a buddy. Farhan introduced me to Mawra, so we were already comfortable and friendly. It was fantastic, and everything went smoothly and amicably. Additionally, that is what is displayed on the screen.

Any memorable moments you shared with Mawra during the shooting?

When we were filming, it was Ramzan, and she retained her Roza. In addition, I had to rush to a show the following morning after traveling from other places. I felt really at ease with her, and we had chemistry and a strong bond. Both working and the song’s atmosphere were enjoyable. As I mentioned, she had kept her Roza, so we did not talk much outside of our time on set.

There were absolutely no obstacles. Collaborations between Pakistan and India have just begun. Boundaries cannot stop art. Music transcends all people and cannot be stopped. In just four days, Tu Chaand Hai has surpassed five million views on YouTube. Since it is in Pakistan’s top 10 Spotify charts, it is receiving a lot of love and will only grow in popularity. I am quite certain about that.
