Malaika Arora recalls people warning her against dropping ‘Khan’ from her surname after her divorce from Arbaaz Khan! (hot credit – Instagram)

Malaika Arora has made some risky choices throughout her life. After over 19 years of marriage, the actress and her husband Arbaaz Khan called it quits. Arhaan Khan, their beautiful kid, has been a huge supporter of their decision to divorce. Malla, who is currently seeing Arjun Kapoor, talks about removing the last name “Khan” and how many cautioned her against doing so. Details can be found below!

As most people are aware, being a “Khan” in the industry is nothing less than an honour, particularly when you are connected to a seasoned author like Salim Khan and superstar Salman Khan. We have observed how the assistance has benefited others, such as Himesh Reshammiya and Aayush Sharma. Malaika also appeared in the famous Dabangg song Munni Badnaam, which helped her gain a lot of notoriety.

Recalling her decision to drop ‘Khan’ from her surname after divorce, Malaika Arora spoke at India Today Conclave 2023. I had a famous surname. I don’t think that was everything I wanted to do in my life. It opened a lot of doors for me but I feel at the end of the day I have to work irrespective of my married surname. And, I had to work hard to stay in the game and prove myself every day of my life. And, even though I continued to work the day I had my surname and went back to my maiden name, it makes a difference.

“I had a lot of people warn me that I was making the biggest mistake by deleting the surname,” Malaika Arora continued. I frequently hear, “You have no idea how much a surname is worth,” from people. My ex-in-laws and ex-family deserve a lot of respect because they have shown me a lot of affection. Although I have a child and am very much a member of the family, I felt the need to stand on my own two feet and not be defined just by my last name. It simply provided me a sense of self when I was able to delete the surname and resume using my maiden surname. I got the impression that anything is possible in life.

Malaika Arora’s reality television programme Moving In With Malaika was her most recent appearance on the professional scene.
