Unusual: Mackenzie Davis is expected to join the Blumhouse and Universal cast of Speak No Evil.
The movie, which will be released on August 9, 2024, is a fresh adaptation of the critically acclaimed Danish horror phenomenon gastern, speak no evil. It tells the story of a family who is invited to spend the weekend at a picture-perfect country home, but their idyllic getaway quickly turns into a terrifying psychological nightmare.
James Watkins wrote and directed “Speak No Evil.” based on a script by Gaestern’s Christian and Mads Tafdrup. Gastern, which was released in 2022, received 11 Danish Film Award nominations, which are the country’s version of the Oscars.
Davis joins James McAvoy, who previously acted in the successful film Split And Glass, a Blumhouse production.
Davis’ most recent stage appearances include Simon Stone’s Phaedra at the National Theater and Patrick Somerville’s critically praised HBO Max limited series station eleven, which is inspired on the Emily St. John Mandel novel. She portrayed the lead characters in Tim Miller’s Terminator films for Paramount, Clea Duvall’s Happy Season (which set streaming records for Hulu), and Floria Sigismundi’s Turning for Amblin.
UTA, Entertainment 360, B-Side Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, LLP are the firms that represent Mackenzie Davis.
