On Sunday, a prayer gathering was held at the Mumbai location of Yash Raj Productions for Pamela Chopra, the wife of the director Yash Chopra. The mother of director Aditya Chopra and actor Uday Chopra, Pamela, received tributes from a number of celebrities and filmmakers. Many famous people attended the event to show their support, including Dimple Kapadia, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Preity Zinta, Zoya Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aditya Roy Kapur.
On April 20, Pamela passed away at the age of 74. She was admitted to a hospital in Bombay after suffering from illness for a few weeks. On Thursday morning, he was cremated in Mumbai, and the Chopra family sent their sympathies while seeking privacy. Members of Bollywood have also been visiting Aditya Chopra and his wife, actress Rani Mukerji, to mourn their loss over the past few days. Since his passing, the family has maintained a low profile.
Pamela wed Yash in 1970, and being the brains of YRF, she worked closely with him on everything from writing to costume design to music. From Kabhi Kabhie (1976) to Chandni (1989) to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, he sung in his flicks (1995). Yash passed away in October 2012 at the age of 80.
Pamela was last spotted earlier this year in the Netflix docuseries The Romantics. It contained a unique Aditya Chopra interview and chronicled Yash’s journey as he established his own film company in Mumbai. Later, after their father’s passing, Aditya and Uday assumed control of the banner.
