Taran Adarsh, a film industry expert, tweeted on Sunday about the movie’s second-day earnings: “Zwigato observes an increasing trend on the second day [+44.19 percent] However because of the first day’s activity, the 2-day total is still quite modest. For the business to have a decent weekend total, the third day needs to see a spectacular turnaround or spike. 43 lakhs on Friday and 62 lakhs on Saturday. 1.05 billion. India Business.
Critics gave the film favourable reviews. The film’s review in the Hindustan Times appreciated Kapil’s portrayal of the food delivery man. “Sharma, like Manas, is as sincere and persuasive,” it said. In terms of his body language, mannerisms, and particularly his dialogue delivery without his customary Punjabi touch, he has undergone a chameleon-like makeover. Sharma deserves praise for getting it right. His act, which helps you stop feeling sorry for him and instead makes you smile, skillfully combines this candour with a dash of comedy.
Zwigato was originally intended to be a 20-minute short film, but Nandita Das later chose to turn it into a feature film due to its intriguing subject matter. In addition to the International Film Festival of Kerala, the film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival.
Nandita said of her decision to cast Kapil as the main character, “I had not watched Kapil Sharma’s show, thus I did not know much about him. But one day I stumbled into a Kapil video. Yet it came from a ceremony… When I watched that video, I felt like an ordinary man.
