Circus, an adaptation of The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare, stars Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in dual roles. Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Murli Sharma, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar, Siddharth Jadhav, Vrajesh Hirji, Tiku Talsania, Brijendra Kala, and Sulabha Arya were among the numerous ensemble cast members. Despite having a number of comedy professionals and Rohit Shetty as regulars, the movie failed to engage viewers.
The seasoned comedian commented on the film’s dismal box office result in an interview, saying, “Every director thinks the picture is fantastic, nobody wants to make a loss since they spend much in the film – financially and personally. In that regard, a lot of work is put into producing a movie. Humne jo kaam kiya, humare khed ki tare hui in the circus (all the work we did was appreciated).
He went on to say, “The movie might have had certain design flaws that viewers didn’t like, which is why it didn’t work. What are the options? But I can say with certainty that people are anticipating it.” People usually anticipate humour from us.
Although barely appearing once or twice a year in recent years, Johnny has appeared in over 300 Hindi films. For the films Deewana Mastana (1997) and Dulhe Raja, he received two Filmfare Awards for Best Performance in a Comic Role (1998). In that category, the veteran received 13 nominations.
His son Jesse and daughter Jamie have also followed their father into the entertainment business. Together with Kunal Kemmu, Nupur Sanon, Saurabh Shukla, Chunky Pandey, and Rajpal Yadav, the father-daughter team previously collaborated on the 2019 comedy Housefull 2 movie. They are currently starring in Pop Who.
