John Malkovich On Why He Rejected Marvel Movies Before ‘Fantastic Four’: “You Don’t Want To Pay Me, It’s Cool, But Then I Don’t Want To Do It”
In a recent interview, John Malkovich discussed why it took him so long to play the lead in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which he will star in this summer.
Malkovich believes, “It is not that unlike to performing theater,” after The Fantastic Four: First Steps was able to eventually reach an agreement with him and produce a Marvel film. “You invent a bunch of stuff that is not there and do your little piece,” he adds.
Malkovich’s role in Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine, which also stars Sam Rockwell and Mark Ruffalo, was just announced.
Malkovich, who costarred with Ayo Edebiri in A24’s genre comedy Opus, recently dazzled at Sundance. In addition to his self-satirical role in Being John Malkovich, he has received nominations for the Supporting Actor Oscar for Places in the Heart and In the Line of Fire.
