Knight Riders of Kata (KKR) For the current season, one of the 10 teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has engaged the explosive British opener, Jason Roy. The Knight Riders paid more than Roy’s base fee of Rs 1.5 crore when they purchased him for Rs 2.8 crore.
Significantly, Shreyas Iyer, the Knight Riders’ expected captain, has been disqualified from the competition due to a lower back ailment. In 64 T20I matches for England, Roy has represented the country internationally. In those 64 games, Roy has scored 1522 runs at a strike rate of 137.61, including eight half-centuries.
Even though KKR paid more for Roy than they originally planned to, the two-time winners would still be without Shakib and Iyer.
