According to Sacnilk, Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 made Rs. 7.60 crore on its first day of release, which took place in theaters this Friday. The occupancy rate for morning shows was slightly over 12%, indicating a cautious start to the response. However, throughout time, the numbers increased steadily, reaching almost 28% by night. There is a feeling that word-of-mouth could help the movie get more traction throughout the weekend, even though the opening numbers were not very impressive.
The movie centers on C and is set in British-ruled India. Akshay Kumar portrays Sankaran Nair, a brave lawyer who opposed the British administration during the Jallianwala Bagh atrocity. The film, which was reportedly produced on a budget of Rs. 150 crore, revolves around Nair’s unwavering determination to pursue justice in the wake of this traumatic period in Indian history.
When thousands of unarmed Indians gathered at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar on April 13, 1919, to protest the Rowlatt Act and call for the release of leaders Dr. Satyapal and Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew, the slaughter occurred. General Reginald Dyer suddenly gave the command for his soldiers to start shooting. 1,650 bullets were fired, according to India’s Ministry of Culture, and the shooting finally ceased when the ammo ran out. Indian accounts place the number of victims at above 500, whereas British records place the death toll at 291. Many people were unable to flee the garden due to the closed entrances, and the atrocity marked a watershed in India’s fight for independence.
