Sourav Ganguly, a legendary Indian cricketer, thinks Rishabh Pant’s terrible injury will give the new players a chance to step up during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 while the former Delhi Capitals (DC) captain is out. After learning that Pant would miss the whole IPL season, Delhi Capitals named experienced opener David Warner as the team’s captain in an effort to finish second in the 2020 edition of the lucrative competition.

In a franchise competition, Sourav Ganguly said, a player of Rishabh Pant’s caliber cannot be replaced (IPL-PTI).

After suffering several injuries in a horrific vehicle accident last year, wicketkeeper-batsman and former DC captain Pant is expected to miss the entire 2023 season. Pant’s replacement for the IPL 2023 season has recently been announced as Bengal wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel. Aiming for their first IPL championship in the 16th season of the lucrative league, Pant-less DC began their season on Saturday by defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

A player of Pant’s caliber cannot be replaced in the franchise competition, according to Ganguly, who made the admission ahead of DC’s forthcoming game against the reigning champion Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023. The former captain of India added that Pant improved as a player when the famous MS Dhoni took a break from his illustrious international career.

Rishabh will undoubtedly be missed by the team, but this is a chance for others to stand up. As the finest players in franchise tournaments—guys like (Jasprit) Bumrah, Rishabh, and Shreyas—are shared among all teams, we would miss him (Rishabh) for the entire season. I see it as a chance for someone to improve, much like how Rishabh has since MS Dhoni stopped competing. Players are created in this manner. This is a chance because you can see (Shubman) Gill improving and Ritu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) performing well. Although Rishabh will be missed, his health comes first.

Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan were also supported by Ganguly after they were cheaply removed by Mark Wood in the IPL 2023 opener against Lucknow. In the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Warner’s DC could only muster 143/9 when asked to chase down a difficult total of 193 in 20 overs, and Delhi lost the match by a score of 50 runs.
