In their inaugural encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scored 148 runs together as a team. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight wickets thanks to the star duo’s outstanding batting display.
Tom Moody, a former Australian cricketer, praised RCB for their performance in the IPL 2023 season opener. He claimed that between Du Plessis and Kohli during the opening stand, there was genuine comradeship, comfort, and respect.

Moody believes that Virat Kohli benefited from Faf du Plessis’s upbeat attitude.

Arshad Khan won the game’s player of the match award for his game-winning innings, while Kohli was still undefeated at 82.
It also helps to hear someone like Faf play with such abandon; you practically draw that energy to yourself, especially if you’ve been playing erratically over the past several years and have lost some rhythm, he continues.
The 34-year-old has already stepped down as RCB’s captain following the conclusion of the IPL 2021. Also, the franchise had named the seasoned South African batsman as captain for the previous edition. The Bengaluru team under his direction placed third in the 2022 competition.

In the first game, Rohit Sharma’s MI batted first and scored a total of 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs after Faf du Plessis’ RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tilak Verma, a young player for MI, got 84 points off 46 balls.
In response, RCB easily pursued the target (with 22 balls to spare). The 10 clubs in the IPL 2023 have begun their seasons as at the conclusion of the fifth match. The following game between RCB and KKR will take place on April 6 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
