‘Curious By Nature’: Florence Pernel’s French Cozy Crime Series Comes To Market
EXCLUSIVE: The French drama Curious By Nature is making its international debut, and cozy crime is still quite popular.
César Award-nominated Florence Pernel (Three Colours: Blue) plays Fred, a seasoned war reporter with a fierce temper, who is the focus of the series.
Fred is currently employed in local news. She is forced to look more closely when her assignments reveal criminal cases that have been ignored. Colorful investigations follow, accompanied by her awkward videographer Manu (Jean-Baptiste Shelmerdine).
The series, which consists of three 90-minute installments, is getting a MIP London launch from France TV Distribution. It airs on the France 3 channel of broadcaster France Télévisions and is referred to as Enquête Parallèle in France.
Frédérique Tirmont, Macha Méril, and Jessyrielle Massengo are also part of the cast. The writings by Armelle Patron and Emmanuel Patron are directed by Stéphanie Pillonca and Christophe Paturange. The series is produced by Brain Productions.
Along with Annwyn, The Otherworld, and Sea Shadows, Curious By Nature will be on France TV Distribution’s schedule as it prepares for the London Screenings and MIP London. In addition to hosting a presentation at the Charlotte Street Hotel, the sales firm will be present at the city’s TV Screenings and the first MIP event in the English capital.
As there is still a strong demand for criminal programming, Curious By Nature launches. The cozy crime subgenre, which French distributors frequently identify to as “light crime,” has a rich French heritage. Series like HPI and Tom and Lola have been successful. The latter has been modified for the United States. On the ABC network, TV, with High Potential is broadcast.
