The Christian community took issue with a church sequence in Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda’s movie Jaat earlier this week. The actors are now facing a formal complaint for allegedly offending religious feelings. The Jalandhar police have received a complaint. In addition to Deol and Hooda, Viineet Kumar Singh, the film’s director, Gopichand Malineni, and the producers are also the targets of the FIR filed under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This particular scene showed the story’s antagonist, Hooda, using violence within a church. In the background, his figure could be seen praying while standing beneath a crucifix. Additionally, he was seen in the scene intimidating the members of the church, which infuriated the Christian community. According to the complainant, the scene was purposefully created to offend religious sentiments.

“The director, writer, and producer purposefully released this film during the holy months of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians get angry and riots break out in the entire country and unrest is spread,” the complainant said, according to NDTV.
Earlier this week, the Christian community representatives also sent a memo to the Joint Commissioner calling for a prohibition on Jaat’s cinema presentations.
Filmfare’s Review of Jaat
“Although the cast consistently delivers, the screenplay and direction of Jaat are not all convincing. It is guilty pleasure, but only if you are a die-hard action fan or if you think Sunny Deol’s machismo is an official film genre.” Filmfare gave the film a 3 out of 5 rating, saying that “Sunny Deol has been India’s most prolific action star of all time and he still looks good when he beats up a man. He makes the most ridiculous stunts look believable, and he delivers comedic punches with effortless ease.”
