Recently, J.K. Rowling gave her thoughts on an actor-related tweet that was forwarded by a fan. Fans are intrigued and perplexed by her tweet, though, since many believe the author is subtly disparaging Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, the stars of Harry Potter.
“Three guesses,” was Rowling’s response to the inquiry, “What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?” She added three laughing emojis to her post, saying, “Sorry, but that was irresistible.” Although she did not identify the actors, many fans believe she made a reference to Daniel, Emma, and Rupert, who played Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Potter in the Harry Potter films.
The author referred to transgender identification as “deeply misogynistic and regressive,” which caused a rift between Rowling and the three. Citing Rowling’s remarks on the subject, the performers openly expressed their support for the transgender population. Emma Watson had said, “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned.” Daniel Radcliffe had said, “Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people.” Rupert Grint had added, “I liken JK Rowling to an auntie.” Even though I may not always agree with my aunt, she is still my aunt. It is a challenging one.
Additionally, Rowling has previously stated that she would not compromise her opinions and would not accept criticism from Harry Potter characters. “Celebrities who supported a movement that aimed to undermine women’s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to encourage minors to transition can save their apologies for traumatized detransitioners and vulnerable women who depend on single sex spaces,” she said on social media.
