Dia Mirza described the anguish she experiences in an interview with Indian Express when her films fail to connect with viewers, saying, “The heartbreak when your stories don’t get the audience. You see, the heartbreak is when the events in your story don’t occur. The agony of waiting for work to come your way for an eternity, producers to find. It’s incredibly difficult. When you consider, “Alright, this movie! Since everyone has loved it, adored my part, and it will make its way to more,” and you suddenly find yourself gnawing on that stone block once more, pleading for anything to have happened. It’s an interminable wait; I have made peace with it.
Dia Mirza went on to discuss how her career took a U-turn after Rajkumar Hirani called her and asked for a job. In 2014, his production company released Bobby Jasoos, and in 2018, he made a comeback as himself with Sanju. He also garnered praise for his work in Kaafir, and he is now prepared to dazzle audiences.
On discussing that phone call, the actress said: “For me, Sanju was like air. I actually required this. I remember for the first time in my career I called up a friend, since Raju is a friend, and said, ‘Please put me in your film. I want to be in a movie and I need a job, but I can’t find one. He took my test after that and was impressed, so I took part. Because I’m shy and find making those calls to be quite embarrassing, I’ve never done this before. I’d like to cooperate with you.”
Dia Mirza aspires to work on movies that promote change. She is eager to perform in quality movies and parts. She remarked, while describing how it makes her feel to pass up opportunities to work on movies with someone else, “There have been instances in the recent past when I really wanted to do, pictures I really wanted to be a part of. Due to someone else getting the part, it didn’t happen even though it almost did. I’m thrilled for that person, but I’m really sorry for myself. which is, I suppose, natural. Yet I don’t sit down and begin to think. It’s a gloomy road.
