In addition to launching the second issue of Inspiring India magazine, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) named actress Bhumi Pednekar as its first national spokesperson for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event started off with a moving performance by tabla master Charu Hariharan, followed by the magazine’s trailer. In front of diplomats and dignitaries, Pednekar participated in a Q&A during which Shoko Noda, Resident Representative, UNDP India, questioned her about her path, inspirations, and other topics.

Pednekar spoke to us and smiled as he added another achievement to his resume. “I am overjoyed, and it is really an honour that they (UNDP) thought I was deserving of accepting this duty,” she exclaimed. I’ve done my part and contributed to society through my employment for a very long time. Pednekar, who is renowned for producing films about societal shame and taboos, revealed that she is fervently committed to advancing gender equality and taking action on climate change.
