A startling discovery has surfaced nearly a year after Chandu Champion debuted on huge screens: Kartik Aaryan was not initially selected for the part. Actor Bhuvan Arora said in a recent interview that the late Sushant Singh Rajput was originally slated to play the lead in the biopic about India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. At the airport, Arora remembered meeting Sushant, who informed him that he had obtained the rights to produce a movie on Petkar’s inspirational life.
Coincidentally, I worked on the Chandu Champion movie. Sushant was initially expected to handle it. The film’s rights belonged to him. Additionally, Sushant owned the story rights. Murlikant Petkar must have sold it to him. In one of the interviews, even Murlikant Sir mentioned that, Arora revealed. Sushant informed me that he was working on a movie about a paralympic swimmer when we met at the airport. We used to chat and speak about the movie because we both liked performing.
According to Bhuvan, Sushant had bought the story rights from Petkar himself since he was so committed to the project. Of course, I forgot about it. I recently watched an interview with Murlikant Sir when Chandu Champion was released, and he stated that Sushant was originally intended to star in the movie. Ironically, I was not there in that film at the time, though I am not sure of the specifics. Now, Sushant was not in this movie, but I was,” the actor continued.
Following Sushant’s tragic death in 2020, the film, which was directed by Kabir Khan, finally found its way into Kartik Aaryan’s lap. Even though Chandu Champion was a highly anticipated biopic, both reviewers and viewers had differing opinions about it when it debuted in theaters on June 14, 2024. The movie sought to showcase the incredible journey of Murlikant Petkar, a man who, by pure willpower and guts, broke down obstacles and elevated the nation.
In the meantime, Sushant Singh Rajput’s followers and loved ones continue to carry his memories close to their hearts. Debates surround his unexpected death in June 2020; some believe foul play, while others think it was suicide. His legacy and unresolved issues are perpetuated by his family, particularly his sisters, who are still fighting for justice.
