Muhammad Ali Amazon Series ‘The Greatest’ Casts Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston

Amin Joseph has joined the cast of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “The Greatest,” which chronicles the life of Muhammad Ali.

In the drama, Joseph will portray Sonny Liston in a regular series role. In addition to Omari Hardwick and Dana Gourrier, who will portray Ali’s parents, he will co-star with Jaalen Best, the previously revealed series lead.

The official description for the series states that it “intimately explores the incomparable life of Muhammad Ali (Best). The amazing victories and defeats that made Ali a legend, both in and out of the ring, have been well documented and while those landmark events will live in ‘The Greatest,’ the heartbeat of the story is fueled by all the moments that took place outside of the spotlight. The world remembers an icon, but ‘The Greatest’ is about a man, a spouse, a father, a brother, and a son.”

Many people consider Liston to be among the best heavyweight boxers of all time. He became the undisputed heavyweight champion in 1962 after defeating Floyd Patterson, and he retook Patterson the following year. Ali beat him twice, once in 1964 and once in 1965. In 1970, Liston engaged in his final professional bout. He finished his career with 50 victories (39 via knockout) and 4 defeats.

Joseph has been in movies like “To Live and Die and Live,” “City of Lies,” “The After Party,” and “The Expendables.” Most recently, he costarred with Keke Palmer and SZA in the popular comedy picture “One of Them Days.” His most well-known television role is that of Jerome Saint in the highly regarded FX drama “Snowfall.” Joseph not only starred in each of the show has six seasons, but he also directed the first episode, “Ballad of the Bear.” He also starred in “Justified: City Primeval” and “Transparent” on television.

He is repped by Entertainment 360, Fox Rothschild, and Gersh.
