Alia and Rekha shared the stage in white sarees in a video clip from the award event that Sony posted. When Rekha declares on stage, “I dedicate my award today to the future legends of our country and that is the beginning,” Alia can be seen carrying her prize. In response to his comment, an overjoyed Aaliya clumsily collapses to the ground and utters the sound “Turrr” as if in amazement.
While accepting the trophy, Aaliya bowed respectfully before Rekha and gave her a hug. Alia attended the occasion in a white saree and a blouse with a matching embroidered pattern, just like her legendary character Gangubai. With golden jewellery, Rekha was dressed in a white and golden silk saree.
Not only Alia but also her actor husband Ranbir Kapoor took home the Best Actor prize that day for his work in the 2022 movie Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. The movie was Ranbir and Alia’s debut collaboration, and it also happened to be the highest-grossing Hindi movie of the previous year. Since he couldn’t attend the ceremony in Mumbai, Alia accepted the prize on his behalf. He was promoting his Holi-released movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar. Recently, the domestic box office exceeded 100 crores.
Through her performances in movies like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Gully Boy, Highway, Udta Punjab, Raazi, and others, Alia has demonstrated her prowess in front of the camera. She will now appear alongside Ranveer Singh in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. On July 28, it will open in theatres.
