Manish began his career as a radio jockey, hosting the morning drive-time program Kasakai Mumbai on Radio City. Manish related an experience with Humans of Bombay when he was asked about a funny encounter he had with a famous person. He thought back to when he had only recently begun hosting movie award presentations. In that instance, Manish questioned Akshay Kumar, “Akshay sir, ek conversation toh bol dijiye,” as he was leaving the stage. He sternly commanded them to “shut up” as he turned around. On this, I began to perspire. For the first time, my mother also attended my performance. He said, “I felt quite humiliated that beijjati hogayi (I was insulted).
Manish claimed that he was aware that his career was either coming to an end or starting. Despite the director telling him not to, she chose to accompany Akshay to his seat. Says Manish “I began by explaining to him how he had made fun of me in front of my mother. I explained that I was merely seeking acting advice from him. Everyone started crying as our conversation intensified.”
