The second installment of Mani Ratnam’s movie version of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 Tamil novel of the same name, Ponniyin Selvan, is titled Ponniyin Selvan II. In September 2022, Ponniyin Selvan I, the first installment, was scheduled for release. The narration of the movie is done by actor Kamal Haasan. The soundtrack for the movie was written by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. The historical drama is scheduled to premiere on April 28.
Aishwarya made her feature film debut in Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar and went on to star in a number of South Indian films. When discussing the same, the actor said to PTI, “I was fortunate to have the chance to collaborate with Mani Garu on my first movie. Why would I not accept? After that, I had the opportunity to work with incredible directors like Rajeev Menon. And Shankar, so it goes without saying that I would approve of the films I have produced; the proof is in the eating. Additionally, all of the films featured music composed by AR Rahman, so there’s no way I couldn’t say “yes” to these amazing talent combos. Going one place or another is not the point. I have made it abundantly evident via my decisions that I do not adhere to these thought processes or systems, and they have never been the driving force behind my journey or my decisions since the beginning of my career.”
