Viral Pushpa Dialogue in Hindi was Improvised During Dubbing: Shreyas Talpade

In recent years, Hindi translations of South Asian movies have achieved the same level of success as their original releases. In certain occasions, the dubbed versions have outperformed the accompanying Hindi releases. Pushpa Raj, the main character, was voiced by Shreyas Talpade for the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rising (2021). The majority of the Hindi dialogues, according to him, were actually improvised in dubbing studios, he claimed.

Pushpa: The Rise was also dubbed into Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam apart from Hindi.

Pushpa, written and directed by Sukumar, starred Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and Allu Arjun. Pushpa, played by Arjun, and her interpretation were previously well-liked, but since the movie’s premiere, fans and famous people have been posting memorable quotes online. The crew working on the Hindi dub didn’t cling to literal translations of the Telugu language, but rather managed to convey the essence of what the characters were feeling, according to Shreyas, who also dubbed for the Hindi version of The Lion King. attempt to catch

In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Shreyas disclosed that several catchphrases sprang to prominence in the dubbing booth. He remembered, “We performed a lot of improvisations during the Pushpa dubbing sessions. The iconic line from Allu Arjun’s movie, “Pushpa Jayega Nahi,” was originally translated literally as “Pushpa will not go.” Hence, we changed it to “Pushpa Jhukega Nahi” (Pushpa will not bend down), and before we knew it, it had gained popularity!

He went on to say, “Similar to this, the famous line “Phool nahin, aag hai main (No flower, I am fire)” was absent from the first movie. Every year since we adapted it in the Hindi dubbed version, people have continued to use it. Indeed, that was the whole point—rather than translating anything literally, we should reformulate it into something that captures the essence of the character while also making it memorable for the audience.

In the biopic Kaun Pravin Tambe, the actor last appeared as cricketer Pravin Tambe. He will next be seen playing Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a former Indian prime minister, in Kangana Ranaut’s historical drama Emergency. The cast also includes Mahima Chowdhary, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik.
