Filmmaker Sandeep Singh has disclosed that he has shelved the movie about the fabled king of Mysore Tipu Sultan. He attributed this to the threats Tipu’s supporters had been making against him, his family, and friends.
Tipu Sultan Film Shelved
On Monday, Sandeep Singh revealed his decision to shelve the contentious Tipu Sultan movie on Twitter. “A film will not be created about Hazrat Tipu Sultan,” he wrote. I ask my fellow brothers and sisters not to threaten or mistreat me, my family, or my friends. I truly regret any offense I may have caused to someone’s religious beliefs. As I genuinely believe in respecting all views, I never intended to do this. Let us, as Indians, constantly respect one another and remain unified.
Sandeep Plans to Make a Film on Tipu
When Sandeep revealed the Tipu Sultan movie, he issued a statement that stated, “In this cinema, I personally have faith. My films are truthful… I was brainwashed into thinking he was a brave man because of how our history books depicted him. But nobody is aware of his dark side. I want the world to see his dark side.”
The co-production of Tipu Sultan by Sandeep, Eros International, and Rashmi Sharma Films was planned. It was scheduled to be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. Prior to the May assembly elections in Karnataka, the movie was announced.
When the movie’s director, Pawan Sharma, first announced the project, he said, “The knowledge provided to us in school about Tipu Sultan is obviously false. His actuality as a stoic ruler completely shocked and appalled me. Through my film, I dare to depict a harsh reality that has been distorted in order to elevate him to the status of a warrior hero.”
PM Narendra Modi’s biopic was previously produced by Sandeep Singh (2019). More of these biographical endeavors, such as those on Veer Savarkar, Bal Thackeray, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, are supported by him.
