The star-studded Baawal screening in Mumbai on Tuesday was also attended by Karan Johar, Nora Fatehi, and other celebrities. Now that images of Varun biting Janhvi Kapoor during the Bawal photo shoot have appeared online, some social media users are upset with Varun’s “antics.”
Varun Bit off Jhanvi’s Ear in the Photoshoot
Recently, images from a promotional photo shoot for Varun and Janhvi’s movie Baawal were shared on Reddit, in which Varun is seen biting off Janhvi’s ear and reacting to it. “Umm what,” the accompanying caption read.
Varun is seen holding Janhvi close to him in the first image while biting her ear. She wore a jacket that was the same color as her black dress. In the second image, Janhvi could be seen grinning while holding his ear.
Reactions on Varun and Janhvi’s Photo
A section of Reddit users applauded Varun while others were surprised. “Scary for a married man to do this when he’s not acting in a movie,” wrote one person. Another wrote, “I don’t know why people are saying that he shouldn’t do all this because he is married. He shouldn’t do all this even if he is single.” Varun is married to fashion designer Natasha Dalal.
Another person added, “It is absolutely ridiculous how he contacts his female co-stars and gets away with all these antics.” Another person remarked, “This is where she should have used her slapping skills,” in reference to Janhvi’s response to Varun biting her ear. I know promotional photo shoots are supposed to be bad, but Janhvi doesn’t seem to be having much fun, another person commented.
When Varun Walked Around Gigi Hadid on Stage
Social media users have previously expressed their disapproval of Varun’s treatment of female celebrities. Supermodel Gigi Hadid was one of the many famous people who attended the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center’s opening ceremony in Mumbai in April 2023. Varun greeted her in Bollywood fashion as she arrived for a small concert held inside the venue for the guests.
Varun called Gigi upstairs while he was on stage performing. She was ascending a short flight of stairs when he grabbed her hand. Later, after turning her around, he picked her up and gave her a kiss on the cheek. In between spins, Gigi appeared anxious and struggled to maintain her designer sari. He ran off the stage as soon as actress Priyanka Chopra grabbed his hand.
When her video went viral, a user on Instagram commented, “Gigi took money for the event, she didn’t take money for the raise without her consent. It appears to be very uncomfortable. Someone else had said, “She’s not coming back to India any time soon, the way she ran!”
