Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has revealed his disappointment with his most recent film, Circus (2022). The film featured a large cast, with Ranveer Singh playing the main part. Rohit stated that he prefers not to place blame for the movie’s failure on anyone.
Rohit Shetty’s Circus
Circus, which was based on The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare, starred Ranveer and Varun Sharma in dual roles. The film also included the following actors: Vrajesh Hirji, Tiku Talsania, Brijendra Kala, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar, Murli Sharma, Pooja Hegde, and Sulabha Arya. The movie was a box office bomb and failed to leave an impression on the audience.
Rohit Shetty on the Failure of Circus
In a recent interview with India Today, Rohit Shetty discussed success and failure, saying, “I make sure to surround myself with people who are honest with me.” I am aware of when a movie doesn’t perform well. I have therefore always felt that I own my accomplishments and shortcomings. It would be futile to turn your back on it. I also owned Singham and Golmaal when they succeeded, and I also owned Zameen, Dilwale, and Circus when they failed. It seems pointless to assign blame to anything else. I’m aware of our actions. It’s obvious that we made a mistake. It was designed for laborers during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and immediately following Sooryavanshi. It was a short film produced for that era’s viewers.
Rohit Shetty Making Circus Again
Even with 50% occupancy, the same audience turned Suryanshi into a smash hit, so if it doesn’t work for Circus, I should also take responsibility for the setbacks. That does not exclude me from returning with the Singham franchise, Golmaal, or any other movie; in fact, I may even return to make Circus. And it’s alright. Every five years, my crew informs me that you are grounded for these kinds of mistakes. My ultimate goal is to satisfy the audience, and I feel obligated to return the affection they have bestowed upon me, he continued.
Soon, Rohit will appear on Khatron Ke Khiladi 13 as a host. Prior to this, he was preparing for his OTT debut with the Indian Police Force.
