The story of the much anticipated movie Oh My God 2, in which actor Akshay Kumar will play Lord Shiva on screen, has generated a lot of buzz. This time, however, there have been many rumors that the movie will be centered around the theme of homosexuality; we can categorically state that this is not the case at all. Since the release of the movie’s teaser earlier this week, there has been conjecture in the trade and on social media that the story will center around LGBTQ issues.
An insider close to the project says, “While we understand that there is a lot of curiosity about what the subject of the film is, it would be really better for the makers to release more details about the subject rather than people believing all such rumours.” “The rumors that the film will be based on the theme of LGBTQ are completely baseless. There is not an iota of truth in such reports,” the insider continues.
Oh My God 2, the follow-up to Kumar’s 2012 smash hit Oh My God – Oh My God!, features Pankaj Tripathi as a devotee and actress Yami Gautam as a lawyer. It opens nationwide on August 11th.
In the interim, the movie has been referred to the censor board’s revising committee for a thorough examination. This is reportedly being done as a preventative measure against a similar backlash that occurred following the release of Adipurush, which was criticized for its dialogue and character portrayals to the point where dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir was compelled to issue an unconditional apology.
“After the editing committee goes through the dialogues and visuals of the film,” a source was quoted by India Today in “Review and Revision” of the film “Oh My God 2,” which is directed by Amit Rai and co-produced by Kumar’s Cape of Good Films and Viacom18 Studios. Govind Namdev, who played an agitated sadhu in the first part, is also starring in the movie.
