Actress Hrishitaa Bhatt talked about collaborating with Jimmy Shergill and Tigmanshu Dhulia on the 2003 crime drama “Haasil” while anchoring the TV music programme “Rangoli.” The Tigmanshu Dhulia-directed film Haasil was based on the politics of the students at Allahabad University. Jimmy Shergill, Rishita Bhatt, Irrfan, and Ashutosh Rana are among its stars. Jimmy, Rishita, Brijendra Kalra, Varun Badola, and the director appear on “The Kapil Sharma Show” as the movie celebrates its 20th anniversary and share memories of the set and what it was like to work on the movie.
When Hrishita and Tigmanshu and Jimmy were working together, she remarked, “I have noticed that Tigmanshu and Jimmy have a knack for complete silence. Earlier, when we were filming “Haasil,” he would only use two words to express himself. As a 19-year-old Mumbai native, I used to be perplexed by his actions.
It’s difficult to believe, but I talk a lot, the actress continued, demonstrating how she was the complete opposite of the two of them. I was interested by Tigmanshu and Jimmy’s reticent demeanour when I first met them since I wasn’t sure if he would speak or not. He maintained his composure even while creating “Haasil,” and hasn’t altered since.
Rishita made her acting debut in the 2001 film “Ashoka,” which starred Shah Rukh Khan. She then won praise for her parts in “Haasil,” “Ab Tak Chappan,” and other films. The actress also appeared in a number of web series and had a role in the Akshay Kumar film “Katputli.” Hrishita also reminisced about filming “Haasil” as she recounted her experiences.
“Tigmanshu’s real-life experiences strongly inspired the film we made, and we shot scenes without any written conversations,” he continued. Jimmy and I alternated speaking our lines at certain points. It was a difficult process, but the finished product was magnificent because we were able to capture the mood of the era.
According to him, the movie was shot in Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela using a hidden camera and guerilla filming techniques. He said, “For the shoot, we went to the Kumbh Mela for ten days. When we were fleeing and people thought Jimmy was kidnapping someone, he held my hand.
Despite the tumultuous ten days, Irrfan, Jimmy, and I were able to film. At the time, we had no notion that the movie would go down in history as a success. I think the playful environment we created during the production was special and irreplaceable, and the movie even served as an inspiration for some of the films produced today. It unquestionably established a standard at the time, the actress said.
A 2003 movie called Haasil was based on the politics of Allahabad University’s students. Irrfan received praise for his subpar performance in the movie and was recognised with various prizes.
