The actor Jiah Khan’s death case was decided by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mumbai on Friday. Actor Sooraj Pancholi was cleared in this case of aiding Jiah Khan in committing suicide. The verdict was announced when he was present in the CBI court.

Suraj Pancholi was found not guilty.

Sooraj Pancholi was declared innocent by Special CBI Court Judge AS Syed because there was insufficient evidence to convict him.

On June 3, 2013, Jiah, well known for her work with Amitabh Bachchan in the film Nishabd, was discovered dead in her Mumbai residence. Suraj Pancholi was detained as a result of section 306. (abetment of suicide). She apparently discussed her problematic connection with Sooraj and claimed that he had physically and psychologically assaulted her in the letter.

Suraj’s bail request was denied by a Mumbai court, however on July 1, 2013, he was released on bail after posting a 50,000 bond. Sooraj Pancholi was declared innocent by the court on July 2 and was not to blame for Jiah Khan’s suicide. Rabia Khan, the mother of the late star, expressed her dissatisfaction with the court’s ruling and asked for a comprehensive investigation. The Bombay High Court transferred the case from the Mumbai Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation about a year after Jiah Khan’s passing (CBI).

Rabia Khan repeated in her testimony before the special CBI court that her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi killed her daughter. Additionally, Jia Khan’s mother had stated that her daughter suffers from depression. Sooraj’s father, actor Aditya Pancholi, filed a 100 crore defamation complaint against Rabia Khan following the case’s transfer to the CBI.

Rabia requested the reopening of the nine-year-old case in a new petition to the Bombay High Court last year, alleging flaws in the prior CBI inquiry. The Bombay High Court, however, denied Rabia’s petition. Rabia requested a new investigation into her daughter’s alleged murder by an independent, specialized agency with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States in her petition (FBI).
